Our Role
Everyday, people throughout the United States and around the world choose colors and fonts. Logos, they say. Some are very high quality—we’ve seen them. Other people code web sites, using the technologies that make the interactive world go ’round. Still others design print collateral and packaging. Some focus on strategy and results. We admire these heroes for their competence in their various fields, because they are all integral elements in our line of work: brandworking. But they are just that: elements. The construction, growth, and vitality of a brand relies on all of these. And more. As brandworkers, we devote ourselves to the mastery of each field and the fusion of them all. For a higher purpose: cultivating brands—making them work.
We are experts, craftsmen and designers, and while we too specialize in the aforementioned fields, we keep our eyes peeled on the big vision—the brand. Our mission is simple: to establish engaging brands for companies who aim to excel in the marketplace.

Have A Plan
Strategy is the underlying framework of brandworking. Not always outwardly visible, a systematic brand development plan is as important as any job in the brandworking operation. At Buchanan Design, it begins with a brand audit, where we analyze strengths and weakness across touch points (anyplace a consumer comes in contact with the brand), followed by extensive market research. We then partner with clients to define goals, establish a strategy, and initiate brandworking that makes said strategy distinct in the consumers’ perception—i.e. our follow-through is so on-target that market share can’t help but grow.
Brand Management
A brand is more than a logo. It is a perception that shapes a company, product, service, or experience in people’s eyes and in people’s hearts. As such, we regard it the highest priority and greatest calling of brandworking to cultivate that process in a way that communicates the right message in an authentic and enticing way.
Brand Management is where we sculpt that consumer perception to illicit the perfect reaction: an emotional response that guides behavior. From there, the development of the brand includes calculated design decisions (graphics, imagery, typography, etc.) through various media and touchpoints. Ultimately, we assume the roll of Keeper of The Brand, in which we oversee the brand from an overarching standpoint as it grows, evolves, and sustains itself.
Web Design
It doesn’t take a branding expert to know that to be competitive and successful in today’s marketplace, a brand must employ interactive technologies as part of marketing strategy and sales initiatives. Being branding experts, though, we also know that web design is most effective when it marries striking visuals and intuitive user interface with dependable programming (i.e. design and technology), seamlessly integrating a web presence with the rest of the brand. When these elements are working in harmony, a brand’s ability to reach targeted audiences the world over can fully reach its potential.

Design For Good
In an effort to contribute more and more positively to those in our community, Buchanan Design founded OrangeTree Project. The goal is to help non-profits who otherwise would not have the resources to hire a design firm. We donate design time, OTP funds pay for printing and materials, and the non-profit keeps on making the world a better place.
In addition, we donate a percentage from any non-profit projects who can afford to hire us. We know the more non-profits we help, the more people we can touch through them and their community projects.
